According to Billboard, 'Revolution Studios', whose acting roster includes huge talents such as Julia Roberts, Adam Sandler, & Bruce Willis, has just added 'Amerikkka's Most Wanted' Ice Cube. The rapper-turned-actor has signed to star in and produce a minimum of three films for Revolution. "Cube Vision," Ice Cube's production company in partnership with Matt Alvarez, will also be housed by Revolution. In a recent interview Cube spoke on the new deal : "You meet a lot of people, and you see who you really vibe with, and I vibe well with [Revolution founder] Joe Roth and [partner] Todd Garner. I believe that a lot of good things are going to happen out of this relationship for both [Revolution and Cube Vision]. At the end of the day, we'll probably have five or six movies in the bag in a period of about three years."
Ice Cube hopes the deal will help take his film career to the next level and enable him to work with more A-list talent including both actors and directors and provide bigger budgets for his projects. Having just wrapped up production on "Torque" he is set to reprise his role in MGM's "Barbershop 2," the sequel to last years smash hit. Other projects that have been identified that we can expect soon are :
• "Are We There Yet?" : A comedy in which Ice Cube is set to play Nick, a playboy bachelor and sports memorabilia collector who dates a divorced mother of two young children who never like the men their mother dates. Things are said to turn awry when Nick offers to drive the kids from Washington to New York, where their mother is stuck for work.
• "Clash" : An action film written by J.P. Donahue and Kevin Polay that Ice Cube is set to star in and also produce with Alvarez. It's about a reformed ex-con [Ice Cube] whose life is shattered when a violent gang of criminals murders his family and leaves him for dead. Having been brought back from the brink of death, he sets out on a mission to bring the guilty men to justice by any means necessary.
• "Willie" : A drama in which Ice Cube will star as a junior high school custodian whose life changes when he is given the chance to coach the school's basketball team. However, having discovered he lacks the required teaching accreditation and a high school diploma, the school district threaten to remove him from the job.
Revolution founder Joe Roth spoke on signing the "Nigga Of The Century" : "Ice Cube is a phenomenal talent. As an actor, writer, producer, and musician, he reaches the same level of remarkable success."
Roth's partner, Todd Garner, added : "We see an incredible opportunity to broaden Ice Cube's already growing audience and feel that the diversity of these roles will promote that expansion."
Looking at those roles we can expect to see some great diversity from Ice Cube in the next few years, lets hope he receives further recognition from an industry he is quickly growing in stature within. From a musical fan's standpoint i also hope he has arranged to fit in time for recording his greatly anticipated new album, due out later this year on Dr. Dre's 'Afterma
